Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Highgate, Birmingham and lived at the Moor, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Husband of Mary Jane Bousfield, of 3, Gorsey Bank, Wirksworth. He was a wire works warehouse labourer prior to enlisting on 25th August 1914 at Derby. He went to France on 26th January 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his arms and hands on 1st July 1916 at Gommecourt, France on the first of the Battle of the Somme. He died of wounds. 3rd July 1916, at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station Warlincourt, France.
