Born and lived at Anstey, Leicestershire. Son of William James and Harriett Botterill, of 19, Highfield Street, Anstey; Husband of Elise E. Botterill. He was a shoe riveter prior to enlisting at Anstey. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, age 25, during the attack on Otto Farm, near Ypres, Belgium.
