Sergeant Alfred Ernest Borrington

Born in Derbyshire and lived at 44 Dorset Street, Radford, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Gertrude Borrington of 11, Whitemans Terrace, Canal Street, Derby. He was a General Labourer prior to enlisting on 20th November 1914 into the Machine Gun Corps. He was promoted to Corporal on 16th March 1915 and Sergeant on 31st July 1915. He went to France on 24th February 1916 and was transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 12th January 1917. He died of wounds on 13th November 1917.
