Born at Pleasley, Derbyshire. Brother of Mrs. A. Peace, of Netherfield Cottage, Doncaster Road, Rotherham. He went to  Gallipoli 1st July 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 4th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 30th October 1917 and joined the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 18th January 1918. He was reported missing 21st March 1918 and died of wounds 17th April 1918, aged 23, whilst a prisoner of war at Aachen, Germany.
