Born at Staveley, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Bridgett Booth, of 141, High Street, New Whittington, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 10th June 1908. He served in India from 5th January 1909 to 2nd October 1914. He went to France 4th November 1914 and suffered gunshot wounds to his thigh, 9th May 1915. He was admitted to No. 11 General Hospital, Boulogne, France, 10th May 1915 and was evacuated to England on Hospital Ship Anglia, 11th May 1915. He died of wounds, 15th May 1915, aged 27, at 4th London General Hospital, Denmark Hill, London.
