Battalion : 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of John George and Eliza Boot, of 7, Nottingham Road, Belper. He was a colliery labourer for Denby Coal Company prior to enlisting 3rd May 1912 at Belper. He served in Ireland during the Irish Rebellion in 1916 and then went to France 4th September 1916. He was killed in action, 10th October 1916, aged 22, whilst serving in the line near Grosville, France.
