Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of John and Elizabeth Bonser, of 12 Bathley Street, The Meadows, Nottingham. He was an apprentice tailor prior to enlisting on 22nd November 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
