Born at South Leverton, Nottinghamshire and lived at Lowdham, Nottinghamshire, Son of The Rev. Samuel and Emily Kate Bond, of Woodborough Vicarage, Nottingham; Husband of Eleanor Bond, Lowdham, He was a commercial traveller in the tobacco industry. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 14th July 1915 into the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment., and was promoted Lieutenant 1st September 1915. He was posted to the 19th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 21st February 1916 before joining the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was wounded at Bazentin Le Petit, France, on 31st July 1916 and died of these wounds on 2nd August 1916, aged 34.
