Son of Robert Charles and Maud Edith Bolton, of Hill House, Alton, Hampshire. He enlisted into the 4th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 10th September 1916 and posted to Second Lieutenant 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, July 1916. He was killed in action, on 1st August 1916, aged 17, during a raid on the German line near Givenchy, France.
