Born at North Leverton, Nottinghamshire and lived at Grassmoor, Derbyshire. Son of Samuel and Ann Boice of North Leverton, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Elizabeth Boice, of 51, Main Road, Grassmoor, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and died of wounds at No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station, Puchevillers 14th September 1916, aged 37.
