Born and lived at Ambergate, Derbyshire. Brother of George Boden, of Meadow Cottage, Saw Mills, Ambergate, Derby. He was a colliery winder prior to enlisting on 14th March 1917 at Derby. He went to France on 20th December 1917  and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
