Born in Nottingham and lived at 14, Brand Street, Meadow Lane, Nottingham. Son of Henry and Susannah Bodell, of 31, Sneinton Hollows, Nottingham. He was a baker’s assistant prior to enlisting on 1st April 1913 at Nottingham. He went to France on 11th December 1914 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915, aged 19, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
