Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Thomas and Jane Blunt, of 10 Haven Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 12th July 1911 at Nottingham into the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He went to France on 2nd November 1914. He was appointed Lance Corporal, on 21st June 1915, and promoted Corporal, on 19th August 1915. He was appointed Lance Sergeant, on 8th October 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his left leg, on 12th September 1916. He was transferred to the hospital at Etaples, France and to England on Hospital Ship Brighton. He returned to France on 28th February 1917 and was promoted to Sergeant, on 4th May 1917. He suffered gunshot wounds to the back on 3rd August 1917 and was transferred to England. He was posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 19th December 1917 and returned to France on 20th December 1917. He was posted to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 8th February 1918 and was killed I action, on 4th November 1918, aged 25, in the attack on the German positions near Sebourg, France.
