Private Albert Blount

Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of Herbert and Matilda Blount, of Park Side, Belper. he was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Belper. Killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack at Gommecourt, France during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
