Born in Northampton and lived at 37 Broad March, Nottingham. Son of Kazia Blank, of 55 High Street, Whittlesea, Peterborough. He was a pork butcher prior to enlisting on 17th May 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was admitted to a casualty clearing station suffering from trench fever on 1st July 1916. He was transferred to No. 1 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, France and then sent to England on Hospital Ship Dieppe, on 2nd July 1916. He was treated at Fulham Military Hospital and on recovery returned to France, on 31st December 1916. He was killed in action on 19th August 1917, in the attack on the German positions on the Knoll, near Lempire, France.
