Corporal John Blackwell

Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Buxton, Derbyshire, 14th January 1897  and lived at Buxton. Son of John and Mary Blackwell, of 15, Fairfield Road, Buxton. He was an upholsterer prior to enlisting at Buxton, on 31st May 1915. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 20th November 1916. He was promoted Corporal on 6th May 1917 and was killed in action, on 31st July 1917, in the attack at the River Steenbeek, Belgium
