Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of John and Clara Blackshaw, of 20 Lennox Street, Nottingham. Husband of Annie Blackshaw, of 22 Lennox Street, Nottingham. He was a furniture salesman prior to enlisting at Chilwell, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 11th November 11914 with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. and was killed in action, 23rd November 1917, whilst serving in the trenches near St. Elie with the 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
