Born and lived in Derby. Husband of Alice Blackrock, of Liversidge Street, Derby. He was a labourer at a copper foundry prior to enlisting on 11th August 1914 at Derby,  into the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. 10th September 1914 and went to France on 14th July 1915. He was discharged medically unfit on 7th August 1917 and died on 18th April 1919.
