British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Bamford, Derbyshire. Son of  John and Sarah Blackburn; Nephew of Alice Farrow, of Upper End, Peak Dale, Derbyshire. He was a labourer at Buxton Limes Firms prior to enlisting 17th December 1913 at Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire into the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He went to France 28th February 1915 and suffered an injury to his hand and was transferred back to England returning to France 10th June 1917. He was posted to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd July 1917 and died of wounds 6th October 1918, aged 21.
