Private Charles William Bishop

Son of Benjamin and Jane Bishop, of 4, Hobmoor Terrace, Mount Villas, York. Husband of Florence Bishop, The Cottage, Oak Tree House, Preston, near Hull. He was a groom and gardener prior to enlisting 25tgh November 1916 at Beverley. He went to France on 5th April 1917 and suffered gunshot wounds to his right arm, on 17th June 1917. He was treated at 18 Casualty Clearing Station Lapugnoy, France and 11 General Hospital Camiers before being evacuated to England. He returned to France on 16th January 1918 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
