Born at Islington, Middlesex and lived Elland, Halifax, Yorkshire. Nephew of Jane Ann Driver, of 12 Commercial Street, Elland, Halifax. He was a Woollen Piecer prior to enlisting 13th April 1917 at Halifax. He was posted to the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 6th April 1918 and went to France 7th May 1918. He was posted to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 17th June 1918 and was killed in action. 6th September 1918. by German shellfire, whilst serving in the line at Oppy, France.
