British War and Victory MedalBorn at Breaston, Derbyshire and lived at Long Eaton, Derbyshire.  Son of Oliver and Tryphena Birkhamshaw, of 16, Salisbury Street, Long Eaton. He was a lace hand prior to enlisting at Long Eaton. He was appointed Lance Corporal, 10th April 1916, served in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion, April 1916 and went to France 26th February 1917. He was killed in action, 4th April 1917, age 27, in the attack at Le Verguier, France.
