Born and lived at Worksop, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Damaris Birkett, of 20, Sandhill Street, Worksop. He was a miller’s clerk prior to enlisting at Worksop. He went to France 6th August 1916 and was killed in action, 8th October 1916, age 20, during a German attack at Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
