Born at Nottingham and lived at 107, Flewitt Street Nottingham. Brother of Edith Bird. He enlisted at Nottingham and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.

Buried : Knightsbridge Cemetery, Mesnil-Martinsart, France. Row F. Grave 14.
