Born at London and lived at Newhall, Derbyshire. Son of Robert and Charlotte Bird, of Pimlico, London. Husband of Mary Elizabeth Bird, of 19, Rose Tree Lane, Newhall. He was an insurance collector prior to enlisting at Burton-upon-Trent. He died of wounds, 24th August 1918, age 38, due to gas poisoning. 

Buried : Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport, France. Plot 7. Row D. Grave 12B.
