Battalion: 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Joe W. and Margaret Birch of Willoughby House, Hayden Road, Basford, Nottingham.  he was a cardboard box maker prior to enlisting  4th November 1914 at Nottingham and went to France 28th February 1915. Killed in action 31st July 1917, aged 22, in the attack near Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
