Son of Charles and Jane Birch, of 10, Mount Street, Heanor, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 23, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
