Born at Cranstoun, Midlothian, Scotland and lived at “The Gardens” Wingfield Park. Ambergate, Derbyshire. Son of Francis and Catherine Binnie, of Edgehead, Ford, Midlothian. He enlisted on 8th February 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 24, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
