He was born at Calverton, Nottinghamshire. Son of Henry and Mary Ann Binch, of 5 Sherwood Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Louisa Binch. He was a coal miner at Blackwell Colliery, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. 19th September 1915. He died of wounds 27th March 1918.
