Born 11th March 1893 at Leeds. Son of Daniel and Clara Bimrose, of Leeds; Husband of Olive Edna Bimrose, of 43, Sycamore Road, Handsworth, Birmingham. He was a civil service clerk prior to enlisting,  May 1915 into the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. He went to Salonika (Greece) 3rd March 1916. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 30th October 1917 and posted to the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 6th December 1917. He went to France 12th April 1918 and was killed in action, 3rd October 1918, aged 25, in the attack and capture of Ramicourt, France.  He was awarded the Military Cross London Gazette 15th February 1919, For marked gallantry and skilful leadership in the attack through Bellenglise and Lehaucourt on September 29th,1918. Finding both flanks held up by machine-gun fire, he took his platoon to the left and cleared out two machine guns and their teams. Later he pushed on into Lehaucourt and did excellent work in clearing up hostile posts and eventually reached his objective on the east side of the village. By his dash and determined leadership, he linked up the actions of the battalions working on the right and left of the village.
