Born at Knowsley, Liverpool. Son of Robert and Louisa Biggins, of 30 Talton Road, Wavertree. Husband of Jane Biggins, of 17, Lynas Street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. He was a clerk prior to enlisting on 22nd February 1904 at Liverpool. Posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 7th July 1904. He went to France on 29th May 1915 and suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder on 9th August 1915. He was treated at 8 Canadian Stationary Hospital, Le Touquet, France and then transferred to England on Hospital Ship Brighton, 12th August 1915. He was awarded the D.C.M. (Distinguished Conduct Medal), London Gazette 15th September 1915: For conspicuous gallantry on the 9th August 1915, at Hooge, when he led two other men in a bombing attack on a crater, which they gained, occupied and held until relieved at 2.30 pm on the 10th August. He returned to France on 3rd August 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal, 2nd October 1916. He suffered gunshot wounds to his leg arm and back, 10th October 1916 was treated at 49 Casualty Clearing Station, Contay, France and then was admitted to No. 1 Canadian Hospital, Etaples, France. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Stade Antwerpen, 17th October 1916. He died of wounds at Norwich War Hospital, Norfolk on 24th October 1916, aged 28.
