Born at Aston, Westmoreland. Husband of Edith Alice Bibby, of Bulwer, Litton, Buxton, Derbyshire. He was a groom/gardener at Blackwell Hall, Milton Dale, Derbyshire prior to enlisting on 26th June 1913 at Millers Dale, Derbyshire. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 19th April 1917, aged 30, whilst serving in the trenches at Lievin, France.
