Sergeant John Thomas Bexton

Battalion: 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Bulwell and lived at 38 Montague Street, Bulwell. Son of Levi and HelenĀ  Bexton, of 229, Main Street, Bulwell; Husband of Elizabeth Owen, (formerly Bexton), of 28, Strelley Street, Bulwell, Nottingham. He was a Coal Miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham, 13th April 1915. He was appointed Lance Corporal 25th January 1916 and went to France, 1st February 1916. He was promoted Corporal 23rd February 1916, appointed Lance Sergeant, 28th June 1916 and promoted Sergeant, 13th November 1916. He was killed in action, 23rd October 1917, aged 36, during the operations South of Houthulst Forest, near Ypres, Belgium.
