Born 14th May 1884 at Chindle, Cheshire. Husband of Alice Bewley, of “Merok” Tennyson Road, Mill Hill, London. He was a clothing manufacturer’s representative prior to enlisting. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 19th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 25th April 1917 and was killed in action, 20th September 1917, in the attack near Bulgar Wood, Belgium whilst attached to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
