Born and lived at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Son of Herbert and Emma Bettridge of 80 Carlingford Road, Hucknall. He was a Coal Miner prior to enlisting at Hucknall and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
