Born and lived at Beeston, Nottingham. Son of John James and Eliza Bettle of 57, Mona Street, Beeston. Husband of Agnes Annie Bettle, of 47, Fletcher Road, Beeston. He was a lace puncher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. Killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
