British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Longton, Staffordshire. Son of Allan and Annie Betteley, of 39 Hope Street, East Vale, Longton, Staffordshire. Husband of Florrie Betteley, of 15 Garner Street, Longton. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Longton. He went to France 11th August 1915  and was killed in action, 14th February 1916, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
