Battalion : 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Healey, Sheffield, Yorkshire and lived at Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Walter and Charlotte Berridge, of Brampton. Husband of Nellie Berridge, of 7 Stone Row, Brampton, Chesterfield. He was a plater prior to enlisting on 20th February 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 18th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
