Born and lived at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of Luke and Jessie Berkin, of 2, George Street, Belper. Husband of Emma Berkin. He was a Railway Carriage Works Labourer prior to enlisting at Derby. He died of pneumonia, 13th July 1917, at No. 17 Casualty Clearing Station, (Remy Siding), Belgium.
