Born at Jacksdale, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Lizzie Beresford, of 61, Huthwaite Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Gertrude Beresford, of 89 Silk Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. He was a Coal Miner at New Hucknall Colliery prior to enlisting on 21st October 1914 at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action on 21st April 1915 serving in the line at Kemmel, Belgium.
