Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Alfreton, Derbyshire. Son of William and Elizabeth Bentley, of 37, Alma Street, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was a bill distributor prior to enlisting at Alfreton and was killed in action, 26th July 1916, aged 22, whilst serving in Silesia Trench near Albert, France, during the Battle of the Somme.

Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
