Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Ben Rhydding, Yorkshire and lived at Bolsover, Derbyshire. Husband of Ada Bentley, of Spencer Street, Carr Vale, Derbyshire. He was a miner Glapwell Colliery prior to enlisting at Bolsover, Derbyshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915. Went to France and was killed in action, 29th November 1916, by German shellfire whilst in the line near Beaumont Hamel, France.
