Born at Staveley, Derbyshire and lived at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of George and Mary Ann Bennison, of 131, High Street, New Whittington, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He died of wounds, on 23rd April 1916.

Buried: Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Plot 1. Row A. Grave 59.
