Born at Mill Dale, Derbyshire. Son of Alice Bennington. Nephew of Annie Bennington, of Mill Dale, Alstonefield, Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He was Farm Servant prior to enlisting at Derby. Went to France 27th December 1914 and died of wounds, 11th August 1916, received at Contalmaison, France, during the Battle of the Somme, at No. 1 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, France.
