Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. He was a bleacher’s labourer prior to enlisting on 8th April 1904. He served in Singapore from 29th January 1907 until 1914. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
