Born and lived at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire.  Son of Harry and Rebecca Bennett, of 24 Booth Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. Husband of Lily Bennett, of 52, Albion Street, Mansfield. He was an insurance agent prior to enlisting 11th December 1915 at Mansfield. He was killed in action, 24th September 1918, aged 38, near Pontruet, France, during the advance towards St Helene, France.
