Son of Henry Raymond and Mary Georgina Bennett, of Whitchurch, Devon. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant  3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 31st July 1915. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 1st January 1916 and went to France on 18th November 1916. He was killed in action, on 10th April 1917, aged 33,  whilst attached to the 54th Machine Gun Company.
