Born and lived at South Normanton, Derbyshire. Son of Aaron and Ann Bennett, of 9, Old Post Office Yard, South Normanton. He was a coal miner at Blackwell Colliery, Derbyshire prior to enlisting on 22nd March 1915 and was wounded on 1st July 1916. He was killed in action, on 26th September 1917, aged 26,  in the attack on St. Julian, near Ypres, Belgium.
