Private Henry Bennett

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Amos and Kate Elizabeth Bennett, of 3 Storr’s Road, Brampton, Chesterfield. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 9th December 1903 at Derby. He served in Singapore, from 4th November 1905 to 29th January 1907 and in India until 1914. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
