Born and lived at Burbage, near Buxton, Derbyshire. Son of Charles and Harriett, of 48, Hand Croft Farm, Burbage, Buxton. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Buxton. He was killed in action 3rd October 1918, during the attack on and the capture of Ramicourt, France.
